Woodrow Wilson Elementary School – Lynwood, Ca.

(Our Visit Was Arranged By Sam’s Club # 6626 Southgate, Ca.)

Hi Kids –

What a great school you have, we don’t often see such enthusiasm so early in the morning. Woodrow Wilson was fun for us to visit because none of the kids have ever had a chance to be so close to a hot air balloon before.  For us, thats fun.

We started our morning by getting the balloon and support vehicle into the school yard, which wasn’t easy. The entire campus is loaded with classrooms so the area we got to put the balloon up in, wasn’t much bigger than the balloon.

Having a good co-pilot is an important part of every flight. I sure had a happy one this morning, how lucky can I be ??? It was fun to see all the school’s neighbors come out of their homes and apartments to look at the “Little TONY” hot air balloon. Everyone sure was interested in seeing it, even a helicopter pilot that flew over us several times!

Man Oh Man ... what a great bunch of kids! Everyone was so interested in learning about the balloon, and, everyone of these kids eats a good breakfast every morning before they go to school.

Once the balloon was standing tall in the morning sunshine, each student was given the chance to walk up to the basket with their teacher and look up, and inside “Little Tony”.

The really hard work was done by our 6th Grade Volunteer Ground Crew ... that's them in the pictures below packing the balloon back into its bag after our flight.

Our very special thanks to everyone at Sam’s Club # 6627 for arranging such a wonderful school for us to visit!
