Cole Elementary School – Boise, Idaho

(Our Visit Was Arranged by Albertsons – Fairview & Cole – Boise, Idaho)

Hey Kids – Pilot Vic here… I got to visit Cole Elementary School in Boise, Idaho, today. What a “Gr-r-reat” school.  Its one of the oldest in Idaho. All the kids came out and sat around our Balloon Chase Truck to watch, as I inflated our special “Little Tony” hot air balloon in the school yard.

We were concerned for a little while that rain moving through Boise might prevent our demonstration at Cole School, but the rain quickly passed and we were able to stand our balloon up. I thought it was very exciting. The balloon moved around a lot in the wind.

Once the balloon was standing tall in the morning sunshine, each student was given the chance to walk up to the basket with their teacher and look up, and inside “Little Tony”.

In the picture above, Cole School First Graders get a good look at the balloon.

It looks like one girl was a little braver than the other kids!  The picture at right is the view each student had.

When the time came to let the air out of the balloon and pack it up, Mr. Spencer’s Fifth Grade Class volunteered to be our special Ground Crew. Class members learned how important it is to work together to get the job done. First, they had to squeeze the air out of the balloon, than put it back in its storage bag.

Once everything was packed up, I got to visit several classrooms to chat about ballooning and the importance of eating a good breakfast each and everyday. What a “Gr-r-reat” group of kids … the teachers and parents must be really proud.
