Burke Middle School - Pico Rivera, California

(Our Visit was Arranged by Wal*Mart 2686 – Pico Rivera)

Hi Gang, today was a first for Miss Laurie and I. usually, we only visit elementary schools, but today, we were invited to visit a middle school. I don’t mind telling you we were a little nervous about dealing with older kids. However, once we arrived at the school we were made to feel VERY welcome.

We had four (4) very special volunteer crew members today that helped us unpack the balloon, spread it out and then, the even helped to make a PERFECT inflation. These kids were sharp. They followed our instructions to the letter and we couldn’t have been any happier if we had tried.

All the students at Burke got an opportunity to come up to the basket and get a first hand look at how we make the balloon work. They also asked some great questions about how the balloon was built.

This was a big treat for us, to have such mature, well mannered and eager to learn students was very special for us.

Once everyone got a chance to look the balloon over, our crew helped us pack everything back into the “Tony” truck so that it would be ready for our next flight.

We even got a chance to visit Burke’s science classes after we finished the flight operation. It was very interesting and fun to get a chance to meet the students in their classroom.

If we ever got a chance to visit the same school twice... Burke would be on our list!

Here are a few pictures we took during our visit to Burke Middle School:
