Lets Meet The Balloon Team

Thank you for visiting these pages. While you’re here, we’ll be sharing information with you about the Coca-Cola Hot Air Balloon Team. You’ll learn who they are, where they are based and about the equipment they utilize in their promotions for the company.

Lets get started. Scott & Laurie Spencer operate the Coca-Cola Balloon Team as primary pilots. The Spencer’s have been in the hot air balloon business for over three decades.

Working from their Boise, Idaho based balloon shop, their company is called Lighter Than Air America, Inc.

The Spencer’s also pilot balloons for the Kellogg Company and the Walt Disney Company.

Their operations for Coca-Cola include some of the biggest promotional events in the history of modern ballooning. Scott and Laurie produced the “Coca-Cola Countdown to 2000” which was viewed live by more than 175,000,000 households in the United States. (the event was even seen on the Times Square “Jumbotron”)

The Team utilizes a variety of equipment to conduct promotions for Coca-Cola and their customers.  The anchor of the operation and the Team’s workhorse product is the 90,000 cubic foot “Olympic Spirit” hot air balloon.

Built by Lindstrand Balloons UK in 2004 “Olympic Spirit” boasts the latest in Coke logo’s coupled with state of the art balloon technology in its construction.

Customers logos can be interchanged and placed on the lower part of the balloon.

In the photo at right, “Olympic Spirit” piloted by Laurie Spencer lifts an American Flag from a Festival in Boise, Idaho.

Used when your crowd needs to be  “Wowed”, the giant “Contour Bottle” Special Shape hot air balloon is as unique a tool as any in the world.

Standing 154 feet tall from basket to Bottle Cap, this Giant of Refreshment is the tallest balloon in operation on the planet.

While flying on the rarest of occasions, a static inflation of the “Contour Bottle” is certain to steal any show.

The photo at left was taken at the  Portland “Rose Festival” balloon festival.

Utilized on the ground as a primary promotional tool, the 25 foot tall replica of the hot air balloon is placed at sporting events, store openings and Team appearances to let the world know that the Coca-Cola Balloon Team has arrived!

The Coca-Cola Ballooning Team is directed by CCE's Vice President
